Testing the Mini-Theory | Hartwell, GA Family Photographer

Mini-sessions have proven to be a welcome addition to the small list of services we offer.  Very widely received, we've all but booked our mini-day on the 6th (3pm is still open, folks!) and have worked in people for minis all throughout the month of November.  It would be fair to say that we have increased our business by 300% for the coming month.  However, the idea of shooting a full session in 45 minutes is a little daunting - how to make such a high percentage of stong images with cooperative kids?  Kids take a while to warm up to strangers, especially those who demand interaction from the get-go - but mothers are looking for sweet shots and of course, the 2010 Christmas card photo!

To do a little prep (and try a few new photography tricks), Dave decided to do a test yesterday while he was out running errands.  He stopped by the Botanical Gardens (our mini-session location) to see what could be done in a jiffy.  Now, these are our kids, but they're not always up for photos and sometimes give us the same reactions as any other kid would when being photographed.  In the end, the session was a success and the location has been thoroughly scouted.  Good photos, less that 45 minutes and the children's mother was very pleased with them.  ;)

Tomorrow we will be photographing the wedding of one of the sweetest couples I can imagine.  Paul and Leasy, we're looking forward to being with you!   With this wedding, we kick off our month of photography mania!  If you're thinking about a fall session, please call 706-244-2205 or email us: info@snydersphotography.com.  We have limited space available for November and would hate to turn anyone away.  As always, follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/snydersphotography

Happy Halloween!

Heat Wave | Hartwell, GA Family Photographer

While we were in New England there was a killer heat wave; for many up there it was unfathomable - but for us Georgians it was typical summer weather.  Since we've returned the scorchers have kept up, so the kids have found a pretty awesome way to cool off.  Remember those days?  With sprinklers and hoses and lemonade, when it was never really too hot to play outside?  Yeah.  That's how to pass a summer afternoon.

The Del Llano Family

I met Jess on the tire swings at Harrington Elementary School.  She had a ponytail all the way down her back, mischievous eyes and a rock star personality.  That was in 198.....6?  These days her hair is shorter, I know how mischievous she can be (oh, the stories I could tell) and she is a major Boston radio personality - she's quite fabulous!  Brian is clearly the cheese to her macaroni and Miss Sara, well, she's just like her mother, right down to those gorgeous, twinkling eyes.

Lucy and Sara Beth

We had the pleasure of photographing Lucy and Sara Beth this past Tuesday.  Lucy is set to deliver a baby boy in a few weeks, making Sara Beth a big sister.  With Lucy as sweet as ever, it's not hard to see where Sara Beth gets her marvelous personality and warm nature.  We're really looking forward to going back when Levi makes his arrival!

Thanks also to Kim and Natalie for taking part in some fun photos of N ans SB in matching dresses.  Too cute!  More pics from this session are available here

Reflections

This week we acquired a new piece of lighting equipment - a LiteDisc reflector. The purpose, of course, is to reflect light back at the subject to better expose said subject. While it may sound simple it's actually like wrangling a large flexible metallic trampoline. But we had time to play and a few willing subjects...

And, Dave had another birthday - full of hugs and cake and all sorts of warm fuzziness.

As always, all images can be found in the May 2010 album!

2010 Favorites

Most recent pics are always the super favorites, so it's great to look back and see which photos still jump out at you a few months later.  This isn't a complete list - just a smattering of this and that from our family.  2010 session faves still to come!  ;)

Super Man........ Thanks to Aunt Judy for sending the cape cross-country in a jiffy.  It's a riot how kids react when you break the rules - drawing on oneself is strictly prohibited, right?  So when mom and dad advocate coloring on oneself, it's like giving the kid a million dollars.  Jake was truly proud to show off his Super Snyder chest!

Not to be outdone, Aidan jumped in as well.
