Elijah

We had the pleasure of meeting Anita and her sweet baby boy Elijah today.  Anita is the most calm, mellow new mom you can imagine - it's remarkable how she welcomed us into her home and allowed us to work with her son.

Of course, there is never a dull moment.  Elijah decided to give Kristin a 'warm' greeting as soon as he was undressed.

As usual, all of Elijah's sweet pics can be found in his gallery.

5.25

These pictures make me recall the nursery rhyme "I See the Moon".  Closed eyes, hiding... the sky and moon just before darkness begins to fall... the deck at night, blanketed in the warm glow of the kitchen lights... :)

Reflections

This week we acquired a new piece of lighting equipment - a LiteDisc reflector. The purpose, of course, is to reflect light back at the subject to better expose said subject. While it may sound simple it's actually like wrangling a large flexible metallic trampoline. But we had time to play and a few willing subjects...

And, Dave had another birthday - full of hugs and cake and all sorts of warm fuzziness.

As always, all images can be found in the May 2010 album!

2010 Favorites

Most recent pics are always the super favorites, so it's great to look back and see which photos still jump out at you a few months later.  This isn't a complete list - just a smattering of this and that from our family.  2010 session faves still to come!  ;)

Super Man........ Thanks to Aunt Judy for sending the cape cross-country in a jiffy.  It's a riot how kids react when you break the rules - drawing on oneself is strictly prohibited, right?  So when mom and dad advocate coloring on oneself, it's like giving the kid a million dollars.  Jake was truly proud to show off his Super Snyder chest!

Not to be outdone, Aidan jumped in as well.
Last week invited a lot of testing - which lens is sharper?  Which is better for making "tack sharp" photos?  After hours of testing and over 400 shots, the answer still isn't entirely clear.  The kit lens is certainly flexible and works in all situations, but the prime 35mm lens is super for low-light situations without flash... However, after all of the shooting and testing, several photos jump out as perfectly sharp!
